Vintage Immigrant Suitcase Roll Handle Mechanism 6.5"
Vintage Immigrant Suitcase Roll Handle Mechanism 6.5" This is a neat old item. I cannot remember that exact term that was used when it was purchased, but something like an immigrant suitcase or immigrant roll. It is a mechanism used to wrap around all of your clothing or belongings in with the cloth bands or straps which you roll around the garments and then it attaches so that you have a handle, which is wood and metal and you carry it like a suitcase. I guess you place this thicker most durable garments on the outside, like leather coats or something, really not sure I have a good mental image. It measures 6-1/2" wide by 3" and has the cloth rolls for bundling and the mechanism to open and roll with handle so you can wrap the clothing to be bundled. It is black and in good condition, but think one of the metal rings or loops is missing, see photos. It has no makers marks. There is minor paint wear to the black paint on the wooden handles. The fabric straps seem in very good condition as well and seems it would work fine.
